Marmot Day 2015 – Saturday July 25th

Marmot Day 2015 – Saturday July 25th

This year Cé Marmotte is breaking tradition. Marmot Day falls on July 25 unless the 25th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, in which case Marmot Day falls back to the following Monday. But Cé Marmotte (he is from France) insists on Saturday this year. He says he’s getting back to his roots: the first Marmot Day was held in 2002 on the Nehemiah Ministries property, and the first Marmot Day included community service. That’s right, the wily marmot wants Covenant Eyes employees to participate in a Habitat for Humanity community service day.

The Habitat for Humanity community service work project begins July 25 at 09:00 a.m. and continues until 1:00 p.m. (stay tuned for more details). We will be cleaning up elderly residents’ yards. No power tools will be used, so employees and their family members are encouraged to participate.

After our Habitat for Humanity service ends, we will embark on the Nehemiah Ministries property, located at 2050 W. Bennington Rd., Owosso, MI 48867. Here is the lineup of events:

  • 09:00 a.m.  – 1:00 p.m.  Community service project (child care available on Nehemiah property (lots of children’s activities)
  • 1:00 p.m.   –  Lunch provided by Covenant Eyes
  • 2:30 p.m. – Marmot deliberation
  • 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Wood chucking contest, volleyball, horseshoes, swimming, paddle boats, and children’s activities

Look for updates in the coming days. Cé Marmotte is hoping for a large turnout. And don’t forget: he wields authority over summer!
