We Have A Winner!
After much anticipation, we have a winner in our Marmot Day 2009 Video Contest. Jason King takes home the grand prize in the video contest which saw many skilled entries!

Big surprise. You gave the prize to your own employee, who blatantly ripped off copyright protected music. Way to show integrity!
This doesn’t exactly fall under “fair use” status, since you are a business.

Thanks for your comment. Actually the vote was based on crowd response to each video. There were over 400 people in attendance from around our county and beyond. The winner simply received the best response from this crowd.
We debated whether we would allow employees and their families to enter videos in the contest. We decided to allow it only because we didn’t want to limit the contest in its first year. As it turns out, 2/3rds of the submitters were employees or related to employees.
As for the music, Jason, the maker of the video, received written permission to use the song for the song writer and copyright owner. I agree, it would be a serious breech of integrity if this wasn’t done.
